Breathe Again
Environmental control is an important part of your care and something we can easily help you improve.
During the patient's first visit, the specialist will review the patient's allergy history. This history will enable them to decide if the patient will require further studies such as:
Skin tests
Blood tests
Pulmonary Function & Niox Testing
Xray and other studies
The specialists of the Center rotate their working days. Therefore, if a patient prefers to see a certain physician, they should notify the receptionist when making an appointment. Office hours are Monday through Saturday with morning, afternoon and evening hours. A 24 hour answering service is available for after hour emergencies and other messages.
Allergy skin tests are done to pinpoint the substances to which the patient is allergic. The specialist determines the type and number of skin tests a patient will need (one test might be performed during the first visit); the tests should be scheduled with the receptionist. Each skin test appointment takes approximately 30 minutes and are divided into several categories (depending on the patient).
At the conclusion of the combined diagnostic testing, the allergist will review the results with you. Most allergy medications, particularly the antihistamines, as well as certain herbal teas and pain killers can diminish the skin tests response, therefore it is important to abstain from these products for at least 24 to 72 hours prior to testing. Also please notify the doctor of any medications you may have recently taken.

Pollens
The most common offenders are weeds, trees and grasses.
Environmental Inhalants
These include dust mites, animal dander, feathers, and molds. Molds are fungi which are microscopic in size and are found almost everywhere in our environment.
Foods
The prevalence of food allergies has been steadily rising in the USA. Due to the complex nature of food allergies, several tests are needed to complete an evaluation (prick, patch, intradermal, provocation, laboratory tests, etc.).
Chemicals
Patch testing as well as laboratory testing can be done to reveal sensitivities to certain substances such as nickel, perfumes, cleaning supplies, clothing materials, etc.
Hyposensitization / Immunotherapy
Hyposensitization, also called immunotherapy, allergy vaccination or allergy shots, works to build up a patient’s tolerance to different allergens. The injections contain substances to which the patient is allergic and are administered in small amounts.
Hyposensitization is carried out in small doses of the original extract. Frequency of the treatments depends on the type of allergy and severity of the case. Every treatment the dose is increased until the patient has reached the desired resistance. When the patient receives enough injections, his immunity is gradually increased and his allergic reactions decrease.
Our office is a preferred provider for most insurance carriers. Co-payment amounts and deductibles will vary from policy to policy and should be paid at the time of each visit. Once your insurance is billed, you will receive an explanation of benefits (EOB) from your insurance as to your financial responsibility. Payment plans for allergy testing are available.
We accept a wide range of HMO, PPO, Medicare and affordable care plans
